We are Jim and Alexis Nelson, the founders and proprietors of Chester’s Choice, LLC. We have been happily married for ten years. Alexis has a background in accounting. She has a knack for numbers. She left accounting and joined me in Real Estate shortly after I started our Real Estate business in Denver, CO. We have been full time, licensed brokers in Colorado for ten years. Some time after, Alexis became a licensed mortgage broker as well. Prior to Real Estate, I was a licensed contractor in the state of California. Specializing in high end remodel, I learned to deliver a quality product and keep my clients happy.
Alexis began making a very basic dog biscuit for our yellow lab, Chester. She found it to be a relaxing and therapeutic get-away from our demanding careers in Real Estate and Lending. Typical of doing something one enjoys, she soon got more in depth, creative and just plain good at it. She started looking into healthy and unique ingredients like spinach, peanut butter, liver, beef and carrots. We started bringing the biscuits to our friends when we would visit. Response to the little care packages was great! Everyone said their dogs loved them and they wanted to know what she put in them and how she made them. In a couple of cases, picky, finicky dogs that didn’t like store-bought biscuits went crazy over them.
Alexis had the idea of selling her biscuits. I was reluctant to follow. With a little research, we soon found out what a huge and rapidly growing industry, quality dog products really is. Her passion and persistence, and my “go big or go home” attitude, soon meshed into an exciting concept. We couldn’t get a way from it. No matter what came up in our lives, going into the dog biscuit business always rose to the top. Our minds couldn’t stop coming up with new ideas about packaging, niche markets, better recipes, distributing, image and on and on. We couldn’t turn it off.
So here we are pushing forward with that passion, persistence, go big attitude and a commitment to providing a quality, healthy product for dogs. We believe that Chester’s Choice, LLC, a business that specializes in high-quality, gourmet, dog biscuits, will prove to be a successful business that reflects our passion and commitment to excellence.
